What To Do With: A Cardboard Box♥

What To Do With: A Cardboard Box♥
Hellooo :)
This is the first in my 'What To Do With:' series. I am planning many of these little DIY's, and all the items made are going to be partly recycled; thus aiming to make the items simple, practical, and affordable. (Sound's like a L'Oreal advert haha).
What you will need:
  • An old box (can be any size, shoe boxes are ideal)
  • Some nice paper (wrapping paper is perfect, but any will do)
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape
  • 10-15 minutes of spare time, this is how long it took me :)
Firstly, decide what you would like to use your box for. This will determine the size you need. I use mine for all sorts on my dressing table. It's a shoe box which contained size 7 shoes. You could use it for anything though such as bobbles/clips, a pretty packaging for tissues, or a place to store bottles that don't have the nicest exterior design. Once you have decided, retrieve your chosen box and choose a pretty paper to cover it in.

I picked this up from Paperchase for £1.50. It is a bit more expensive but it has a lovely vintage bird pattern on with a shimmery background. Also it's quite thick therefore great, durable quality.

Then, place the paper on your worktop and bring up the sides of the paper. Cut any excess paper accordingly- however, ensure you leave around 1 inch (2 1/2cm) above each of the 4 sides of the box.. You can cover more boxes with any excess so you can have matching sets! :)
Now you know your paper fits, you are ready to start cutting.

Bring the paper up to the front of the box again and cut around 2cm's to 1" parallel to the sides. On this example (see picture), I am going to cut down the red line. Once you have made these 2 slits, fold the flap into the box and secure with your sticky tape. Repeat this on the opposite side.
Tip: Make sure the paper is pulled tight before sticking down the opposite side.

You should now just be left with a long flap.
Fold in the corners of the paper to the center of the box, and then pull up the triangle you have made and stick. If the vertices end up being taller than the box, just fold them over :) .
Ta dah! Your box is now finished! Now fill it up with whatever you want. I'd love to see your creations, so post a picture on Instagram using the hashtag '#megsbox' so I can have a look :) .

I'd really appreciate any comments :)

Welcome to my Blog!♥

(Please excuse my failure of attempting to write fancy)
Hellooo :)
I have wanted to start a blog for a while now, however it has always been one of those things that I have never been able to get round to. Today, whilst I had some free time, I decided that I will make one.
I really enjoy writing and giving advice, but I never fulfil this to a great extent. I thought that by writing a blog, I'd be able to do this.
I didn't want my first post to be the typical 'Welcome to my Blog', but it looks like this is what it is ;) .
I am hoping to post at least once a week about just general girly things really. Advice, 'How to...' 's, Reviews, Hauls, and then anything that gets requested or that I just have on my mind.

Sorry for the short post, they will get longer- I promise! :-P

I'd really appreciate any comments from anybody,
